Hi, I’m Katie — a licensed, insured, and certified professional groomer with over a decade of hands-on experience in the grooming industry, including several years in corporate grooming management and leadership.
Throughout my career, I’ve also served as a facilitated academy trainer and mentor for prospective groomers, helping guide new professionals as they build both technical skills and confidence. Teaching and mentoring has deepened my understanding of canine behavior, handling techniques, and safe grooming practices — and it keeps me continuously learning and refining my craft.
After years in fast-paced salon environments, I began to notice something important: many pets weren’t struggling because they were “difficult” — they were struggling because the environment simply wasn’t built for them. Noise, rushing, unfamiliar handling, and limited individual attention can be overwhelming, especially for sensitive, anxious, senior, or previously stressed pets.
Gentle Grooming Graces was created to offer a different kind of grooming experience.
I regularly attend professional grooming expos, seminars, and continuing education classes to stay current on evolving techniques, breed standards, styling trends, and safety practices. This ongoing education allows me to bring modern, informed, and thoughtful grooming methods into every appointment — while still prioritizing calm, compassionate handling.
From my serene, intentionally designed home-based studio, I provide one-on-one grooming tailored to each pet’s individual needs, communication style, and comfort level. Having spent years managing busy salons, I’ve encountered nearly every grooming scenario imaginable — and that experience guided the design of my studio from the ground up.
Every detail was chosen with a pet’s emotional and physical well-being in mind. From limiting daily appointments to reduce stress, to using specialized equipment such as a K9 dryer muffler to significantly reduce noise and decibel levels, the space is designed to minimize fear and anxiety. Loud dryers can be especially scary for dogs, and thoughtful adjustments like this can make a meaningful difference in how a pet experiences grooming.
My approach is rooted in patience, observation, and trust-building. I carefully assess how each pet responds to handling, equipment, and the grooming process, adjusting as needed and incorporating breaks when appropriate. For pets who are fearful, sensitive, or have had negative grooming experiences in the past, this slower, more compassionate approach often allows them to feel safe enough to succeed.
I believe grooming should never be rushed or forced. Safety, comfort, and emotional well-being always come before aesthetics. If any portion of a groom cannot be completed safely or comfortably, it will be omitted — because a positive experience matters more than a “perfect” result.
Gentle Grooming Graces is especially well-suited for pets who need extra patience, clear communication, and a calm, structured environment. My goal is to create a grooming experience where pets feel respected, supported, and safe — and where pet parents feel confident entrusting their companion to knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely caring hands.
Gentle Grooming Graces is especially well-suited for pets who benefit from a calm, patient, and individualized grooming experience, including:
Pets who are anxious, sensitive, or easily overstimulated
Pets with a history of stressful or negative grooming experiences
Senior pets or those who need extra time and gentle handling
Pet parents who value safety, communication, and comfort over speed
If you’re looking for a grooming experience that prioritizes your pet’s emotional well-being as much as their physical care, you’re in the right place.
